Advocacy: Projects
Serving the people
Nikki became an Advocate after experiencing a crisis that challenged her independence as a disabled woman. In 2016 she joined the Board of Directors of C.A.L.I.F. (communities actively living independent and free). C.A.L.I.F. serves the greater Los Angeles area as one of the 29 independent living centers established in the state of California.
As she became familiar with how to tackle issues like housing and independence for the disabled, her hope was to be a strong voice nationally. In February 2018 she joined N.C.A.C. (national community advisory committee), an advocacy group representing the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
